Documenting Fedash' s Evening of African Cultural Dance and Drama was a profoundly memorable experience. Among the other beautiful evening’s performances, the Igbo dance ensemble stood out as true cultural custodians. Though long-time residents of the United Kingdom, the group continues to embody and transmit the traditions of the Igbo people of Eastern Nigeria. Their performance not only captivated the audience but also evoked a deep sense of remembrance and continuity.
Equally striking was the role of textile as a symbolic language of identity. Through colour, pattern, and form, their attire communicated narratives of heritage and belonging. This observation aligns closely with the central focus of my artistic practice: exploring clothing as a powerful vessel of identity, memory, and cultural heritage.
